Our immune system : first line of defence against infections

“Superbugs that beats antibiotics heading our way”

This was the headline in the Daily Mail on 6 December.

Because of overuse and improper prescribing, superbugs have breached the last line of antbiotic defence.   When we fall ill, Instead of relying on antibiotics, which are beginning to become ineffective, we need to take responsibility for strengthening our immune system.  A robust immune system will resist can resist even the most virulent infections, even aggressive ones like Ebola!

Here are the basic elements of the The Immune System and how it works.

Herbal Antibiotics

Certain herbs have powerful antibiotic properties. Their complex chemical structure gives them the upper hand when dealing with infections.  Here are eight herbs that can be taken long term to strengthen, revitalise or modify the immune system:

Ashwagandha, Astragalus, Boneset, Echinacea, Eleutherococcus, Poke Root, Reishi and Rhodiola.
